Fund Raising Activities
Golf Outing
Ralph Walker sponsored golf outing was held at the Angel Hill course in Rossville. The golf outing held on the final teacher day continues to be the Foundations most successful fund raising event. The revenue was $ with expenses of $ resulting in net revenue of $ .
Bushels for Knowledge
This new program was launched this spring with the Andersons and ADM. TDM Hog Slat has been added for the 2014 donation period. The program allows farmers to donate grain to the Foundation at the grain terminals businesses. Advertising and educating local farmers has been an issue in encouraging the donations. The revenue was $ with expenses of $ resulting in net revenue of $ .
Settler Slam
The settler slam continues to be a popular event by the participants, but unfortunately very difficult to get the teams to register by the event deadline. This causes shortages of tournament shirts, last minute food & beverage purchases, and last week late night team recruiting to fill playing brackets. The revenue was $ with expenses of $ resulting in net revenue of $3500.
Plans for 2014
We are hoping to add a new fund raising event of a talent show & dinner for the fall timeframe. Organization also needs to produce an infomercial showing past grants, fund raising efforts, and recruiting local community support. This will be used at events and websites to promote the mission and organization. The teacher grant process which expanded to bi-annual awards continues to be discussed for expanding to an “as needed year round on line” process.

Bushels for Knowledge
This new program was launched this spring with the Andersons and ADM. The program allows farmers to donate grain to the Foundation at the grain terminals. First Financial Bank paid an additional $1500 for 2010 and 2011 event support.

2011 Activities
We welcomed Jim Layman and Laurie Kender to the board in 2011, and are excited to be working with them!
For fund raising, we continued with our Euchre Tournament in February, and Ralph Walker again generously contributed of his time to organize a Golf Outing in June on our behalf, following the grant awards program. We as a Foundation Board continued with the 2nd Annual Settler Slam 3 on 3 Basketball Event at the Old Settlers Festival in Delphi, again receiving generous support from area businesses and individuals. The two letter campaigns begun in 2010 - one to businesses seeking general funds, and one to individuals for Literacy Campaign - and open contributions from individuals and businesses rounded out our fund raising efforts. A report of our 2011 results is presented at the end of this report.
Our initial website project begun in 2010 was terminated in August of 2011 as we were not able to find anyone in the community with the time and programming software to support it, and the cost to attain the software was prohibitive. Laurie Kinzie and her advanced computer class at the school undertook the project, have created a site, and are now well into the construction. We hope to have the site open by the end of the school year, in May 2012.
In December, Kevin Kremer spoke with the Andersons Grain Elevator, and is working to set up an account with each area elevator where farmers can donate bushels of grain to the Foundation. The project is called “Bushels of Knowledge”, and we are excited about this opportunity to enable the farmers in our communities to support the Foundation Mission in this way.
Finally, at the end of 2011 we were notified by our Secretary of State that we had been remiss in filing all information they require. This situation was corrected by year end. As a result of this realization, and in an effort to strengthen the Foundation long term, we began working on a Procedural Guide for future board officers and members to follow, that helps direct the administration of the Foundation.
Plans for 2012
For 2012 Fund Raising, we will continue with the Euchre Tournament, the Settler Slam, and the Literacy Campaign. Mr. Walker has again offered his support of the Golf Outing, and Kevin Kremer continues his work with Bushels of Knowledge.
With the support of the advanced computer class, we hope to unveil the web site as noted.
We have already completed the procedural guide, and it will be shared with all new board members as they join the foundation.
Jim Layman has begun electronically archiving Foundation documents for the reference of future Boards, and to protect and preserve the history of the Foundation.
We will continue to recruit community volunteers as support and to become actively involved as members of the Board of Directors. With the support of the community and the teachers and administrators of the Delphi Community Schools, we will again be able to celebrate our work through awarding more classroom grants. In this way, we will continue to meet the Mission of the Foundation as prescribed.
Respectfully,
Educational Foundation of Delphi Community Schools
